The Undersecretariat for Basic Education, through the General Management of Continuing Education of Teachers In-Service, promotes the Teacher Training Program to Prevent Violence Against Women (PREVIOLEM in Spanish). Its aim is to raise awareness and professionalize Basic Education teachers in human rights, gender equality and prevention of violence against women, children and teenagers. In this context, they carried out the Committed Teachers Campaign “For a school free of violence”, in order to raise awareness and create greater consciousness in the educational community about the significance of preventing gender violence in and from Basic Education schools, they began a signature collection of Basic Education teachers, children, teenagers and parents throughout the country in 2010.

Nadine Gasman (right side), UNiTE Campaign Regional Director for LAC receives 1 million signatures
These actions were inspired by UNITE to end violence against women 2008-2015, proposed by the Secretary -General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon and UN Women's Say NO – UNITE initiative.
Therefore, the best way to state this national effort is by handing in a collection of one million signatures to the UN representation in Mexico, in the context of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25th.
