Women Play Think Change - International Women's Sports Day 2010

We are hosting the 3rd International Women's Sports Day on 6th March, during and prior to the event we are conducting radio discussions on issues affecting participation of women in sport including violence against women and facilitating discussions on reproductive rights and HIV/AIDS through sports activities.

The events on the 6th will be a sports festival and a dinner gala in honor of women in sport.

Based on outcomes of our consultative and awareness raising activities during the 16 Days of Activism, we are we are raising awareness on women's right to sport in a safe environment, and using the platform to sensitize our communities and event participants on violence against women, sexual and reproductive rights as well the rights of children to a safe childhood.

We are conducting radio discussions, presentations at meetings and youth dialogs.

On this day we will launch the ' Put A Smile on My Face' campaign through which we are raising funds to establish Early Childhood Centres in three rural locations to meet the safe child care needs of rural women to protect children from vulnerability to molestation, sexual abuse and child labor. This also gives an opportunity for young mothers to return to school and to access livelihood skills and opportunities.
