The Student Life Activities Programming Committee (SLAPC)
The Student Life Activities Programming Committee (SLAPC) at the City College of New York is a group of students that organizes a variety of events that aim to promote cultural, social, and political awareness among the student body. This year the committee along with the Office of Student Life & Leadership Development (OSLLD) takes the theme of Violence Against Women as a central focus for its yearly activities. In a college with a student population from all over the world, the importance of spreading awareness of Domestic and Dating Violence is a topic that should concern us all. Because when students are far from home and in need of support, many of them engage in abusive relationships without realizing the danger for themselves. With this in mind, SLAPC and OSLLD are organizing a Dating Violence awareness campaign at the City College that aims to educate and inform students about the signs of abusive relationships and where to find help.
