Last Friday the Violence Againts Persons Prohibition Bill received more than 150 co-sponsors (120 was needed!), which is fantatsic news!  The Bill has thus been moved froward to the 'Committees Women Affairs, Rules and Business, Human Rights and Justice' for consideration. It is expected that with sustained pressure from this campaign and activists across the globe, the report from the committee will be positive i.e. the Bill will be sent back to the chambers for consideration with the recommendation for adoption and passage of the Bill in the third week of July.  It is looking very positive at this stage, much thanks to all the visibility that has been provided through this network, we must keep the pressure on though and ensure the Bil is moved forward and adopted!  Please help spread the word, we track and communicate the show of support to legislators and involved groups through sms and email.
