The International Trade Union Confederation invites the trade union centers and women's networks to say NO to violence against women
On the occasion of the 25th November, the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) encourages all its affiliated national trade union centers and women's networks to say NO to violence against women and girls and take part in the Say NO-UNiTE campaign.
ITUC sent a special circular letter to all afiliated national trade union centers and women's networks to organise events around the 25th November and report all actions. ITUC is supporting all actions and initiatives undertaken by these organisations by providing information, supporting material, directions and a list of all actions, encouraging the key role of the Trade unions to:
1)highlight that violence against women is a human rights violation;
2)raise public awareness among governments, employers as well as within their own ranks and;
3)press for the adoption and effective implementation of measures and sanctions to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls.
ITUC's aim is to compile a full report of trade union activities for the next meeting of the ITUC Women’s Committee as well as to upload all trade unions activities on the ITUC webpage as well as on the Say No-UNiTE platform of action.
