Over 200 people came to the 6th Annual Local to Global - Take Action: End Violence Against Women at the Norwood Hotel on Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010. Wonderful refreshments including bannock and blueberry jam (purchased from Neechi Foods) was enjoyed by all.

Cheryl McKenzie (APTN) was the emcee, and welcomed Flor Ruck who did the opening prayer, and the Blue Sky Youth Drumming Group who perfomed the Honour Song.

Jeannette Corberie Lavell, President of the Native Women's Association gave an inspiring talk about the lives of Aborignal Women, and the work of NWAC and the Missing and Murdered Women. She spoke passionately about her experience with other Indigenous women, and how important it is for us to support the Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women. She received a standing ovation.

After a short break, the audience enjoyed a musical performance by Nikki Kimaksiutiksak and a group of girls doing Throat Singing. They were followed by Troy Westwood Little-Hawk who sang 3 songs, targeted especially to young men.

After the raffle draws, the Blue Sky Youth Drumming Group closed the evening with a warm round of applause for all who gave so much of themselves that evening.

All funds raised will go to UN WOMEN to End Violence Against Women.
