Movie screening of "The Greatest Silence"

MOVIE SCREENING, “THE GREATEST SILENCE”. The Greatest Silence “, a documentary directed by Lisa Jackson, unveils the untold truth of thousands women residing in the Democratic Republic of Congo who are methodically kidnapped, raped, and tortured by soldiers from both the Congolese army and foreign militias. Since 1998, both parties have used women as instruments in war. The movie captures both the silence of the suffering women, and the validation the soldiers receive from their barbaric acts. Darrell Hartman of New York Sun states, “the primary accomplishment of Lisa Jackson’s documentary… is to expose the horrors of what is surely the world’s most uneven gender conflict.” (http://thegreatestsilence.org) “We CAN end violence against women” by exposing the truth and pain of the suffering throughout our world. A Q & A section will follow the movie screening. Professor Kelley Ready will host the program and snacks will be provided. 45 people attended the movie screening.
