To celebrate the 100th International Women’s Day, 400 supporters joined a rally organized by the Rural Women's Network (RUWON Nepal) in Kathmandu, demanding an end to gender-discrimination and access to education and job training for all women and girls living in rural areas.

Nepali women and girls are facing problems such as discrimination, lack of work and education opportunities, and poverty. RUWON Nepal aims to create a society based on gender equality where confident, skilled and independent woman are present in every field.

The rally was jointly organized by RUWON Nepal, the Government of Nepal, the UN Commission on the Status of Women, UNIFEM and 63 regional organizations.
