Over a thousand Druze women attended the panel on preventing sexual violence in the workplace and home on June 8, 2010 at Nabi Shueib--a place of worship for Druze located outside of Tiberias. Alhan, a key member of Kayan's legal department, was a guest speaker on the panel. Although influenced by the changes in the surrounding society, the Druze community has maintained a traditional and conservative social atmosphere where sexual harassment, rape, and domestic violence are rarely spoken of in public. This panel was critical and helped raise awareness about these important issues for a group of women who may otherwise have kept silent in the fight against sexual violence.
