Every year, Prajnya organises the 16 Days Campaign against Gender Violence between 25 November and 10 December in Chennai, India. We do this primarily to create platforms for frank, open conversations about the different forms of violence that women are vulnerable to, and are often forced to remain silent about. Our goal is to reach as many people as possible, through a combination of closed events aimed at specific audiences, and events that are open to the public. For this year's campaign, we have a total of 17 events, with 9 public events. Some of these public events include a concert, a book reading and discussion with the authors of the book 'Why Loiter'?, a public forum on bystander intervention and a personal safety workshop. Our closed events include a workshop on online safety for high school students, a symposium on mental health and gender violence, a research survey on pre-natal sex selection in Chennai and a symposium on gender violence laws in India and abroad.
