Radio Series on Sexual Harrassment in the Workplace in South Africa

UN Women SARO in partnership with Channel Africa, supported the broadcasting of radio series on "Sexual Harassment in the World of Work".  The Radio Series provided visibility and dialogue on the radio channels to one of the most hidden forms of violence against women: sexual harassment in the workplace.  The five chapters told the story of a woman who goes through this situation and provides key information on women’s rights, how to take action and the existing legal framework.  A radio panel discussion was held live on 12 December with participation from UN Women, a lawyer from Webber Wentzel Attorneys and an NGO representative from People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA).

Channel Africa Radio is an International Public Service Radio whose mandate is to support South Africa’s Foreign policy, and has a listenership of 557,000.  The radio’s mission is to contribute to the development of Africa, support peace, democracy and good Governance through the production and broadcast of innovative, dynamic and stimulating news, current affairs and informal knowledge building content in English and other major African languages. www.channelafrica.co.za
