A Safe World For Women Website
Welcome to A Safe World
2011 is the most significant year ever in the history of women. A celebration of 100 years of equality. 99 Years in which women have risen to the highest positions in government and in business and have achieved freedoms that could never have been dreamed of.
It's one big myth hiding facts such as the lucrative trade in trafficking women. Hiding the truth about poverty, inequality and abuse condemn millions of women to a life of fear and misery
We launched our new website "A Safe World For Women" keeping in mind that a safer world for women is a safe world for all.
By this, Christina Crowstaff and all the volunteers from "A Safe World For Women Campaign" agreed that this is not another website or one more action to end VAW: we decided that we will take part in this issue because we say "No More"! "It is enough!"
On our new website we have interviews with important people and organizations around the world; informative news; hopeless life stories; our work int "A Safe World Campaign" and in "WFAC World".
Please, join us in this cause! You are very important for us and believe us, YOU can make the difference. YOU CAN CHANGE THIS WORLD!

The film is, in fact, about many love stories.
We have the story of Sarah and Shane at one moment dancing freely with their friends, enjoying each other's love, and then, less than a week later, separated by the coldness of cell walls.
There is the story of the newlyweds, Emily and Basel, who are forced to live thousands of miles apart because of UK immigration restrictions.
There is the story of the love between friends, separated by forces beyond their control.
It is more than an activism story, is a Human Rights story! Please, go watch it in:

It is a radical video about the 3 Hikers held in Evin Prison - Iran since July last year! One of them is Sarah, an activist of women rights! Please, watch the video and spread the word, let's help to release them! We can do it!
"This radical film reveals the real '3 Hikers', imprisoned in Iran for 285 days. With video clips of Sarah, Shane & Josh. Music by Jackson Browne.
The disappearance of the 3 US graduates, who have become known as the '3 Hikers', has received worldwide media attention, with some news reports echoing Iranian claims that Sarah, Shane & Josh are spies.
This film shows the truth, using footage from Shane's work as a film-maker & journalist in Darfur, Sarah's work with refugees in Syria, and Josh's environmental work in the USA.
The support of noted social activists, such as Noam Chomsky & Angela Davis, highlights how these three innocent civilians are being used as pawns in a political game between powerful nations. (Chris Crowstaff & Andrew Sampson)"

Sarah Shourd and her two friends, Shane (her boyfriend) & Josh have been held without charge in Evin Prison, Iran, for 9 months.
Before their arrest, for crossing an unmarked border when hiking in Iraqi Kurdistan, Sarah had been working with Palestinian refugees in Syria and her boyfriend Shane had been filming in Darfur.
Sarah is in solitary confinement and seriously ill. Shane is also seriously ill. They are considering a hunger strike.
Please watch our new, short Safe World You Tube video, just released, in support of Sarah, Shane & Josh, and spread it as widely as you possibly can. If you have a website you can post it on, that would be ideal!
The video gives an insight into these three compassionate social activists, including footage from Shane's filming in Darfur, & an extract from our interview with Sarah's mother.

The Forgotten Prisoners is the story of Sarah Shourd and her two friends, Shane and Josh, who have been detained for over 270 days in Evin Prison, Iran, without charge.
In this Safe World film, we talk to Nora Shourd and campaign coordinator, Farah Mawani, about their efforts to Free The Hikers.
Sarah is the only woman in the group, and she is in solitary confinement, suffering a serious medical condition and depression. Her boyfriend Shane is also seriously ill. He is in a separate cell with Josh and Sarah sees them a few minutes each day. Their lawyer has never been allowed access to them.
They are considering a hunger strike. Sarah had been dedicating her life to promoting women's rights, and all three were working to help increase understanding & empathy between different cultures.
