RUWON highlights the situation in Nepal through a seminar to raise awareness

TWO DAYS OF INTENSE AWARENESS-RAISING
Trafficking & prostitution are rampant in Nepal
Rural Women's Network (RUWON Nepal) and the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women - Asia Pacific (CATW-AP) jointly organised theTrafficker-Watch Launch and Preventive Education Seminar, held on the 20th - 21stAugust, 2011, in Kathmandu's Hotel Tibet.
The objectives of the seminar:

- To raise awareness and inform the national level leaders on trafficking and prostitution.
- To raise awareness and inform the civil society and activist organizations on trafficking and prostitution.
- To Promote discussion to prevent the trafficking and prostitution.
The first day was geared toward government agencies. Many representatives attended, such as the police, prosecutors, judges, and social workers, as well as civil society and activist organizations at the national level, 13 representatives from different government bodies and NGOs.
