Each year from 25 November to 10 December women’s organizations, advocates and activists join together for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign. This campaign links the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25 November with International Human Rights Day on 10 December. Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world are taking action during the 16 Days of Activism as part of a global movement of action to end violence.
Mark the 16 Days of Activism with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. There are many ways to take action.
- Create safe spaces for girls. During the 16 Days of Activism, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts everywhere will identify spaces in their communities and make them free from gender based violence and the fear of violence. Download the Action Kit provided in the Resources section of this page to learn how to create safe spaces for girls! Look for more resources here after 25 November: www.stoptheviolencecampaign.com
- Join the campaign “Stop the Violence. Speak Out for Girls Rights” at www.stoptheviolencecampaign.com, launching on 25 November and check out the new Stop the Violence Action Plan toolkit. The toolkit will take you through all the necessary steps to create an advocacy campaign to end violence against girls in your communities.
- Join WAGGGS for the first a series of debates on issues related to violence against girls. Everyone is welcome to take part in the debate and express their views on the topic. Join online at www.stoptheviolencecampaign.com starting 27 November. The topic of the first debate is ‘Violence is the biggest barrier to universal girls’ education.’
