Yves Saint Laurent and UNIFEM, the women’s fund at the United Nations, driven by their shared commitment to advance women’s empowerment globally, are building a long-term relationship to strengthen efforts and build resources to end violence against women and enhance women’s economic security and rights.

Violence against women knows no borders, no ethnicity, no class – women and girls everywhere are vulnerable.  The UNIFEM-YSL alliance will highlight the issue and call attention to working strategies and solutions that apply in developing countries and are applicable in the developed world as well.  It will raise resources for national action and contribute to the UNIFEM-managed United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence against Women that gives grants on a competitive basis to innovative actions in developing countries that support the implementation of critical national and local laws and policies that protect women and girls.  Grants from the Fund will focus on increasing legal literacy, awareness, understanding and activation, by working with judicial, legal and law enforcement agencies and personnel as well as other constituencies that share these goals.
