Empowering Women and Youth Through Education
Young Women for Change and Intellectual Youths

As part of their aim to empower women through education, YWC have joined with Intellectual Youths, formed in 2010 to serve the people of Helmand, and are dedicated to increasing access to education for youths in one of the most underserved regions of Afghanistan.

Together, they are initiating an effort to establish a public library in Lashkargah City in Helmand, which will serve the underprivileged youth of the area. Filling this library with books and resources will not only give these youths access to educational opportunities they didn't have before, but will go a long way in establishing peace in this region. 

About YWC

Young Women for Change (YWC) is one of the premier Afghan women’s advocacy movements founded by Afghan women for Afghan women. In addition to awareness programs, YWC held the very first anti-street harassment march in Afghan history, and will be conducting the first ever large-scale study of sexual harassment in Afghanistan soon. Additionally, they work towards women’s empowerment and increasing their access to education. As part of this, they require books and documentaries! What to Send

That documentary about the Civil Rights movement that you have laying around? Send it! That Jane Austen classic, or Hegel essay or any classic work that’s sitting on your bookshelf? Send it! A book that helped you learns reading and the alphabet? Send it! These books WILL be read and used many, many times by Afghan women and youths for years to come. Your contribution will make a huge difference in improving education and promoting peace. The books can be in Dari, Pashto or English.
