On the 100th International Women’s Day Say NO to violence against women. Join Women on the Bridges!

On the 100th anniversary of the International Women's Day, say NO to violence against women by joining the 2nd annual Women on the Bridges campaign.
On March 8, men and women around the world will unite on bridges near them, calling for peace, in solidarity with women in Afghanistan and elsewhere who are marginalized in their country’s peace processes.
The Women on the Bridge campaign started last year, with women uniting on a bridge bordering war ravaged Congo and Rwanda, calling for peace. Over 20,000 women and men joined them in solidarity on bridges across 4 continents.
This year, we are standing on bridges for the women in Afghanistan, who are still being excluded from taking part in peace negotiations that will determine a power-sharing agreement between the government and the Taliban. This is your chance to get behind them.
On the 100th anniversary of the International Women’s Day join a bridge event near you or online to say NO to war and YES to peace.

The Join Me on the Bridge Campaign was remarkably successful in showing support for women in Afghanistan, the Congo, and other war-torn countries. In the United States alone, there were 138 bridge events in 38 states, and globally, 464 bridges events took place in 70 countries. Together, we stood together in solidarity and support for our sisters, raising awareness and support for women in conflict. From the Golden Gate Bridge, to the Great Wall of China, across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Europe a spotlight was put on international issues and the call for women to be involved in the peace was loud and clear.
However, there is always more that we can do. The petition to demand that women have an equal role in the Afghan peace process is still open. By signing this petition you can join the thousands in calling for urgent action so that Afghan women can play a full part in building the bridges of peace for their future.
