The Asia-Pacific regional component of the UNiTE campaign was launched in Bangkok on 25 November 2010. It is building partnerships across sectors to strengthen political will and resources to prevent violence against women and girls, end impunity, and provide support services for survivors.

Hugs for Her

Hugs for Her is when men unite to take a stand against domestic violence. If you know a woman who is a victim of domestic violence, acknowledge the abuse, help find social services in her area, and hug her. Tell her that noone deserves to be treated like that.

Uniting to End Violence against Women in Georgia

UN Women in Georgia, along with partners, is leading efforts to prevent and address domestic violence.  The Project SHiEld – Enhancing Prevention and Response to Domestic Violence in Georgia (funded by Sida) – established two shelters and a nation-wide hotline for the victims/survivors of domestic violence.

In the late 1990s, Dan Gamble, a Canadian father of two teenage daughters, was upset at the kind of advice his daughters were getting from friends and at school, about how to protect themselves from predators. He knew that the myths and general misinformation they were hearing was wrong – and in many cases, put them in greater danger.
